Job Description

At IPS, you’ll apply your knowledge, skills, and passion to make a difference in the lives of people, solving complex challenges related to pharmaceutical, biotech, and animal health research and manufacturing facilities. We are looking for a dedicated Lead Piping Engineer to join our EMEA team at our office located in São Paulo, Brazil.

In this role, you will work on various projects as assigned by a Project Manager or Lead Designer. You will play a role in the entire design process, including but not limited to: preliminary assessments, concept creation, design, and problem resolution.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop design concepts; prepare documents during the design development phase.
  • Correct and update design documents.
  • Develop solutions to design problems.
  • Use computer-aided design technologies to develop sketches, drawings, and construction documents.
  • Review drawings and documents to ensure compliance with company design and production standards.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and assist the project team in evaluating commercial proposals.
  • Work with equipment suppliers/vendors to obtain the necessary information needed for design completion.
  • Interact with clients on a limited basis to secure scope and design intent.
  • Archive and retrieve data from electronic database for support of work.
  • Research equipment selection from catalogs under the direction of the Project Designer/Engineer.
  • Ensure acceptable levels of quality and check for coordination of work to ensure documents reflect design intent and necessary coordination.
  • Coordinate design work with related engineering disciplines.
  • Attend job and construction meetings and participate in the coordination of the work.
  • Research non-routine code issues and obtain interpretations from code officials.
  • Support field installation and start-up activities.
  • Provide limited contribution to performance reviews for assigned staff.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 10+ years of previous design experience.
  • Proficient in the use of computers for design and understands CAD operations.
  • General knowledge of mechanical and electrical system design.
  • Understanding and knowledge of applicable codes.
  • Proven time management skills to juggle more than one project at a time.
  • Customer Service experience exhibiting strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Process industrial experience, especially in the Life Sciences industries.
  • A Technical or associate degree in drafting and/or design from an accredited technical institution or college.
