Job summary
A Senior DevOps Engineer at DVSA is responsible for automating and streamlining software development and IT operations. You'll architect robust CI/CD pipelines, enhancing deployment speed and reliability across our systems. Your expertise in cloud technologies and infrastructure-as-code will drive our transition to more scalable and efficient platforms. You'll spearhead initiatives to boost system observability, enabling rapid incident response and prevention. As a technical leader, you'll mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Job Description
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Driving the analysis, design, and implementation of technical solutions to enable the automation, deployment and operation of significant cloud infrastructure taking a value-based approach to prioritisation.
* Designing, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure that is scalable, resilient, open, efficient, secure, and cost-effective.
* Stays up to date with technological advances using modern standards to develop the strategy and approach of Digital infrastructure services, in particular support of automation and testing.
* Responsibility for implementing strategies to solve problems within complex technical scenarios and providing solutions with end-to-end ownership to final resolution.
* Complete technical tasks from initial concept through to delivery to the production environment.

Additional Information
This role can be based in Bristol, Swansea, Nottingham, Newcastle, Oldham, Birmingham or Leeds. Your presence at one of these locations will form part of the working arrangements agreed with you. We operate a hybrid working model giving you greater flexibility about where and when you work. Our expectation is that you will spend a minimum 60% of your time at your base location.
Visits to other DVSA sites or work locations count towards this.
Person specification
We are looking for someone who is able to:
* Work in collaboration with other managers across all functions for the good of DVSA and to create a high performing and well-respected Agency.
* Co-ordinate and lead development and upskilling of other Dev Ops engineers to widen their skills, disciplines and knowledge.
* Report to and work with Digital Delivery Leads to help shape delivery plans, ensuring technical risks and issues are communicated and reported in a timely manner.
* Work with Service and Product Owners to ensure clarity in understanding requirements and how Digital Infrastructure solutions will support business goals.
* Propose, influence, and negotiate technical solutions and infrastructure strategies with senior stakeholders.
There may be an element of travel associated with this role to other DVSA offices, with some infrequent overnight stays.
