Lead Engineer (Shifts) – Northamptonshire (Continental Shift)

The Role:
As Lead Engineer, you’ll lead a skilled, multidisciplinary team on a continental shift pattern, ensuring smooth and efficient plant operations. You will be responsible for quick, effective troubleshooting, managing team resources, and ensuring health, safety, and food standards are met. This role is ideal for a proactive problem-solver with experience in mechanical or electrical engineering who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage a shift-based engineering team to maintain and improve operational efficiency
* Act as line manager, overseeing staff development, performance reviews, and disciplinary matters
* Troubleshoot and resolve production and breakdown issues, reducing service interruptions
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food safety standards
* Develop and coach team members, and support engineering apprenticeships
Key Requirements:
* Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
* Hands-on experience with CMMS and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, TPM, RCA)
* Proven leadership experience within a team environment, with a focus on development and training
* Excellent communication skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Nice-to-Haves:
* Experience in the food or process industry
* Knowledge of risk-based maintenance methods (RCM, FMEA)
* Strong IT skills and self-management abilities
