Job Description
IMH Recruitment are currently seeking a hardworking and reliable General Operative to join our client in Barnsley. In this role, you will be responsible for sorting various grades of metal and placing them in the correct receptacles, performing oxy propane cutting, and operating a counterbalance forklift. You’ll also assist with other general yard duties as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Identify and sort different grades of metals, ensuring accurate placement in designated containers.
* Safely perform oxy propane cutting on metal materials.
* Operate a counterbalance forklift to move materials efficiently and safely around the yard.
* Assist with other yard duties, including organizing materials, keeping work areas clean, and ensuring safety standards are met.
* Carry out general labouring tasks.
* Operate machinery and hand tools.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
* Previous experience in metal sorting or a similar industrial environment preferred.
* Proficient in oxy propane cutting or willing to be trained.
* Valid counterbalance forklift license and practical experience in operating forklifts.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Hours & Pay
* Monday to Friday 08:00am – 16:30pm
* Starting hourly rate £11.44 - £12.45 p/h
