About the opportunity
To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations, we currently have an opportunity within our Digital team for a Geospatial Developer.
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join the quickly growing Digital team here at Jacobs - responsible for driving new ways of working and product incubation across a range of sectors. You will be part of our world-class Digital Factory; a cross-functional team of data scientists, developers and geospatial experts driving new technologies and ways of working within the business.
Working with ESRI, Open Source, JavaScript, Python and other GIS and development software, you will provide critical input to delivering projects on time and budget. With exposure to a wide range of market sectors and an extensive knowledge pool, you will deliver dynamic, innovative solutions to internal and external clients.
- Full-time employment with us is based on 40 hours per week
- This role can be based on a Hybrid basis from any of our key UK hub offices (Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow, London, Leeds or Winnersh / Reading)
- Knowledge of JavaScript / TypeScript for front-end development and front end frameworks such as React, Vue.js, Angular2
- Experience with Web Mapping Libraries, for example Mapbox, Leaflet, OpenLayers
- Experience of the ESRI product stack particularly the ESRI Javascript APIs and App frameworks, for instance Next or Nuxt
- Experience with backend node application programming including frameworks such as Strapi
- Version control and code collaboration tools such as git / GitHub.
- Awareness of emerging geospatial trends and technologies
- An appetite to solve problems in creative and versatile ways, working as part of a collaborative team at pace.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Non-essential but desirable experience includes enterprise level spatial databases (ie SQL Server or PostgresSQL), back-end web frameworks such as ASP.Net / Django, automated testing experience (unit testing, e2e testing) and a knowledge of cloud hosting eg Azure or AWS
