Job Description

Located in Greenwich, London the College Manager will be responsible for the overall student experience and administration of our English language programmes and our newly launched NCUK’s International Foundation Year (IFY) programme. Reporting to the International Director, Sales & Operations and the Academic Director, they will also work closely with the Head of Operations to manage and oversee the smooth and effective running of Twin English Centre, London.

The College Manager will be responsible for managing a team of people who are accountable for the overall running of the day-to-day activities of the centre from planning and preparation prior to arrival to programme delivery and customer service evaluation.

This role includes assisting with the development and administration of efficient procedures, maximising technology, and streaming processes in line with that of the group to ensure a high level of service while growing the team. Our customers are at the heart of everything we do as a business, as College Manager your key KPI is ensuring we provide every student with a positive experience at Twin and achieving high quality customer feedback.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the inspection process for all company regulatory bodies including British Council, ISI and NCUK
  • Ensure full UKVI Sponsorship compliance
  • Delivery of the year round and the London summer centre delivery plan
  • Delivery of all due diligence requirements for operations such as safeguarding, health and safety etc.
  • Recruitment induction and training and performance management of all centre staff
  • Achievement of agreed customer and agent satisfaction standards in all matters of on the ground delivery
  • Liaising with the sales team to ensure maximum centre utilisation and workflow equalisation
  • Liaising with the operations and accommodation teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of all centre bookings
  • Ensuring the timely processing of purchase orders and Pleo receipts to enable accuracy of financial reporting
  • Deliver the below the sales line P&L budget items
  • Develop and maintain documented operating processes and procedures to ensure a consistently high standard of delivery
  • Successfully set up and subsequently decommission all designated summer centres pre and post live operation respectively
  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies and procedures
  • Out of office emergency cover required
  • Coordination of all EFL non-teaching staff to include administration and student services.
  • Work in conjunction with the Director of Studies in relation to classroom space, teacher numbers and academic supplies.
  • Work with the Sales Team Business Development Managers and Head of Sales in dealing with enquiries in a timely manner
  • Maintain our Feedback programme – collect, compile, and report ongoing student satisfaction to the wider team.
  • Monitor complaints regularly, follow up actions and keep management up to date with issues

Key Responsibilities International Foundation Year Programme (IFY):

  • Devise and implement procedures for day-to-day IFY operations 
  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality IFY teaching programme in accordance with the syllabi 
  • Co-ordination of the IFY academic calendar and assessment dates 
  • Co-ordination and administration of IFY examinations in line with NCUK exam standards and external moderation. 
  • Ensure accurate and up to date IFY student academic records are maintained 
  • IFY Teacher recruitment and induction 
  • IFY Teacher observation and staff appraisals 
  • Design CPD programme for IFY staff 
  • Navigate centre through IFY first year of delivery and year audit. 
  • Meet regularly with IFY Academic management to review programme and student progression.  
  • Maintain excellent relationship with all stakeholders

Education & Experience:

  • Academic qualification at post-graduate (PGGE or DELTA) or relevant professional qualifications (Essential).  
  • Education management experience (Essential). Normally a minimum of five years’ education management experience. 
  • An understanding of UK/Western higher education and the needs and requirements of international students (Essential). 
  • Direct experience of higher education in an international context (Essential). 
  • An understanding and experience of International Foundation Qualifications (Essential). 
  • Relevant teaching experience. (Essential). Normally a minimum of five years teaching experience.  
  • Experience of academic assessment and standards and of quality assurance procedures.
  • A demonstrable track record in business management
  • Significant proven experience of achieving key performance targets
  • Management experience of working with other departments to help achieve company and personal goals

Desirable:

  • Specific experience of education in United Kingdom (Desirable). 
  • Experience of the development of academic qualifications (Desirable).  
  • An understanding and appreciation of private sector education (Desirable). 
  • Experience of living and working in United Kingdom (Desirable). 
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety (Desirable) 
  • High level of Excel skills, knowledge of CLASS management system (or similar) and CRMS (preferred)

Skills (Essential):

  • Demonstrable cross-cultural awareness and understanding. 
  • Strong leadership skills and a proven ability to lead, motivate, coach and develop staff. 
  • A commitment to teamwork, and a demonstrated ability to manage resources effectively, whether human or physical.

  • Numerate and articulate. 
  • Communicate effectively with academics in the Study Centre and externally (for example NCUK academic, moderators, etc.). 
  • An ability to review assessments outside his/her discipline including formative and summative assessments set by academic staff at the Study Centre. 
  • Competence in the effective use of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). 
  • Proven planning and organisational skills and an ability to take initiative within curriculum and policy objectives. 
  • Proven ability to organise and plan workload, manage conflicting priorities, and possess the flexibility to shift priorities accordingly.
  • The ability to contribute to policy development. 
  • Financial competence 
  • A record of attention to detail, thoroughness and fairness. 
  • The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, work under pressure and, when necessary, with minimal resources. 
  • Outward looking and student sympathetic. 
  • A mentor to staff.

Additional Information:

  • Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 per annum depending on experience plus bonus
  • Location: Greenwich
  • Contract: Permanent - Full Time
  • Hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:30
