About the role:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to join our dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young learners in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 who require additional support. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of SEMH needs and a genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create and implement personalised learning plans, using innovative approaches to foster a positive learning environment.
Application Requirements:
• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with a focus on SEMH needs.
• A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH needs and effective strategies to support them.
• Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage in the curriculum and develop essential social and emotional skills.
• Work collaboratively with class teachers and the SENCO to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
• Use a variety of techniques and resources to manage challenging behavior in a positive and constructive manner.
• Foster a safe and nurturing learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
• Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
