Job Description

Aspiring Educational Psychologist (Learning Support Assistant)
Location: Reading
Immediate Start

Are you a recent graduate keen on mental health and neurodiversity? Do you aspire to become an educational psychologist, and want practical experience working with children with additional needs?

A dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Reading is looking for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team and support students in reaching their full potential. The students in this school have a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and communication challenges, sensory impairments, and physical disabilities. This role would suit a graduate who is empathetic, energetic, and resilient.

In this position, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting neurodiverse students and applying individualized support plans, laying a strong foundation for a career in educational psychology. You'll work closely with professionals like psychologists and therapists in the school, giving you valuable exposure to best practices in therapeutic and educational interventions.

About the Role
Working as an LSA, you'll support a small group of students, helping with both their academic work and emotional development. You'll play an essential role in creating an engaging, supportive environment in the classroom, ensuring that students stay on task, achieve their goals, and enjoy their learning. On some occasions, personal care such as toileting or assistance with feeding may be part of your role.

If you're looking for a fulfilling job where you can make a real difference in children's lives, this position offers just that.

Ideal Candidate

A degree in Psychology, Criminology, or a related field is beneficial, with at least a C in GCSE Maths and English.
Experience with SEN is a bonus, but genuine enthusiasm and willingness to learn are key.Position Details
