Hours of Work: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Term Time

Pay: £85-£100 per day

Location: Finchley

About the role:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. As a key part of the school’s SEND team, you will provide vital support to students across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. This is a full-time, long-term position with an immediate start.

In this role, you will work closely with both classroom teachers and other professionals to implement individualised learning plans and provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs. You will help facilitate a positive learning environment, using a range of strategies to support children’s emotional and social development, ensuring they have the opportunity to engage fully with their education.

Application Requirements:

• Experience working with children with SEMH needs is essential.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) or equivalent experience.
• A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach to supporting students with additional needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other staff and parents.
• A passion for supporting the emotional and educational development of children.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
• Support teachers in the delivery of lessons and help adapt learning resources for students with additional needs.
• Implement behaviour management strategies to help students engage positively in school life.
• Work with the SENCo to monitor and assess student progress, ensuring individual learning targets are met.
• Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued and supported.
• Liaise with parents and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to support for each child.
