Job Description
On behalf of the UKRI, we are looking for a Mechanical Technician (Inside IR35) for a 12 month contract based in Didcot.
As a Mechanical Technician, your main responsibilities will be:
* Assembling mechanical systems to engineering drawings.
* Installing mechanical systems and assemblies on beamlines and instruments in a scientific environment.
* The maintenance and repair of these installed systems.
* Work with engineers, scientists, and visiting users of our facility in finding solutions to mechanical challenges and problems.
* Work safely and ensure the safety of others in a Scientific and Engineering environment.
Essential:
* Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship with NVQ level 3 or similar with relevant experience.
* Experience working in an assembly environment.
* A sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
* A good understanding of engineering maintenance practices.
* A sound understanding of mechanical engineering workshop practice and of appropriate workshop safe work practice.
