Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work for a small family run machinery manufacturer in Ashford.

This appointment involves:

- All aspects of mechanical design for heavy machinery

- Visiting customers’ premises for the purpose of installing and commissioning machinery

- Providing technical support and occasional trouble shooting

- Provision of technical documentation and support to our global customer base

- Producing written reports and documentation and liaising with customers by email and telephone

The successful applicant will be working on production equipment much of which, being customer specific, is for one off manufacture.

This is a full time position of 37 hours per week, working 08.00 – 16.30 Monday to Thursday, and 08.00 to 13.00 Friday.

The successful applicant must have:

• A relevant degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering

• Experience of AutoCAD and Inventor or other 3D packages

• Ability to produce drawings to BS8888 Standard

• Good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

• A willingness to travel

Desirable skills include:

• Solid practical experience and understanding of inspection and quality control procedure

• Experience of manufacturing and how that applies to design, particularly metalwork

• Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
