Job Description


Who You Are



  • Hold a psychology-based degree, with eligibility for British Psychological Society Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, and a postgraduate qualification as an Educational Psychologist or working towards it.

  • Registered or anticipating registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist within 24 months.

  • Enhanced DBS certificate with barred lists checks for adults and children.

  • Experience working as an educational psychologist within a local authority context.

  • Proficient in consultations, collaborations, and applying psychological theories and child development knowledge.

  • Knowledge of education developments, legislation, and assessment practices for children up to 25 years old.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team, with good IT skills for practice support.

  • Committed to equal opportunities, safeguarding, and customer-focused service delivery.

  • Ability and means to travel for work.





What the Job Involves



  • Applying psychology knowledge to optimize children and young people's outcomes up to age 25.

  • Collaborating with children, families, schools, and other professionals to ensure children's well-being and success.

  • Contributing to policy and practice development within Educational Psychology and Inclusion Services.

  • Promoting and safeguarding children's welfare.

  • Supporting local authorities and educators in resource allocation for positive outcomes.

  • Engaging in assessments and interventions for children with special educational needs or disabilities.

  • Participating in team, service meetings, and workgroups internally and externally.

  • Maintaining accurate work records accessible to relevant stakeholders.

  • Delivering training and supervision to service staff and the wider workforce.

  • Contributing to the local authority's priority projects, including data analysis and reporting.

  • Pursuing continuous professional development through training and performance reviews.
