Who You Are

You are a qualified professional with a CQSW/DSW/CSS or equivalent, ideally accompanied by Post Qualifying Awards in Child Care. You bring at least three years of experience in child protection and child care, having previously undertaken managerial roles in children's social work, alongside experience in chairing diverse childcare and child protection meetings. Your robust understanding of current research and issues in the field is complemented by your experience in quality assurance related to children's social work. You are adept at chairing complex meetings, generating well-written reports, and efficiently developing and monitoring systems. Your excellent interpersonal skills, coupled with a calm, analytical approach and unwavering dedication to high standards in social work practice, make you a valuable asset. You are capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team setting and remain open to travel as the job requires.

What the Job Involves

As a Reviewing Officer for Child Protection and Looked After Children, your key responsibilities include coordinating and chairing Child Protection Conferences and Statutory Child Care Reviews, ensuring excellence in practice standards. You will be responsible for maintaining high-quality records and minutes, advocating for professional standards, fostering multi-agency collaboration, and overseeing data analysis from reviews. You'll deputize for the Resource Manager when necessary, contribute to staff recruitment and development, and engage in inter-agency working groups. Furthermore, you will evaluate child protection systems, ensuring compliance with data protection laws, actively partake in safeguarding procedures, and lead meetings pertinent to child protection and public care. The position requires regular presence at the Sefton Council office, with interviews conducted online.
