About the Role

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist
to join our Integrated Neighbourhood team covering North and South Harlow.
There will also be a commitment required to support the West Essex quadrant
as a whole through your robust practice delivery, strong decision making
and with a vision to promote people’s independence and wellbeing utilising
activity and engagement in occupation, through a strength-based approach.

As an Occupational Therapist you will carry out assessments of risk and
deliver therapeutic interventions reached in line with legislative and
organisational standards within the Care Act 2015 (e.g. MCA/DoLs/CHC etc)
and which build resilience and enable independent living for vulnerable
adults. Quality assuring interventions to ensure that vulnerable people
are safeguarded in line with the Council’s statutory obligations, working
with colleagues across the council and in other statutory bodies to do so,
balancing need with financial commitment, positive risk taking and close
working with the community are key to this role.

Why Join Us?

As an Occupational Therapist here at Essex County Council, we ensure that
with us you can focus on occupation, activity, choice and control, and use
a strengths-based approach, along with community assets, to achieve the
person’s goals and aspirations.

What sets our Occupational Therapists apart is the sheer diversity of the
work. Join us and you could find yourself making an impact in housing,
community sector coalition, commissioning, provider quality, organisational
safeguards, mental health or learning disabilities, to name a few.

You will join a knowledgeable and supportive team, who are proud of
creating an inclusive environment where we build each other up. And, with
access to a range of training and development opportunities to empower you
through our award-winning Essex Social Care Academy along with flexible
working options, you can make your career work for you.

Whatever you want to achieve in your social care career, you can do it
here.

Here’s what our OT’s say:

“Some jobs can become a little monotonous over time, but I have never felt
that as a Social Care OT! The job has always been very interesting with a
respectful team and opportunities to progress. The pace of work changes as
well as the types of assessment. I have been here over 5 years and have no
plans to move on. I find ECC social care a progressive organisation which
moves with new ethos and technology.”

"I love the diversity of the role – every case is different, from the
adults we work with, to the environments and the unique challenges that
adults are experiencing. I enjoy problem solving and working together with
the adults, families and different professionals, promoting a holistic
approach for the best possible outcomes for our adults. The Occupational
Therapists in the South OT hub are supportive and encouraging, and there
are frequent opportunities for CPD in lots of different areas, from manual
handling and equipment to mental capacity assessments. I am constantly
learning and developing my knowledge and skills as an Occupational
Therapist - I really enjoy my job!"
