Who You Are


You are a compassionate and empathetic individual with effective communication skills, adept at handling the emotional demands of occupational therapy. You possess a strong theoretical, practical, and procedural knowledge of occupational therapy and understand the necessity of working collaboratively with partnership agencies, including health, housing, education, and both statutory and voluntary bodies. You are flexible and capable of using your initiative to support people, carers, and families effectively. Travel across West Sussex is essential, with locations not always accessible by public transport. You are experienced in complex physical interventions, including the use of community equipment. You are committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and are prepared to work towards specialist post-qualifying awards. Additionally, you can supervise and mentor unregistered social care practitioners, students, and apprentices.





What the Job Involves


You will join a dynamic Occupational Therapy service undertaking strengths-based assessments and applying the relevant legislation to develop and implement support plans aimed at improving wellbeing and delivering outcomes for residents. You will manage a caseload, collaborating with individuals and their carers to identify eligible needs and devise personalized outcomes. Within a supportive environment, you will apply your occupational therapy skills to deliver interventions, utilizing community resources and ensuring support plans are implemented effectively. Key responsibilities include carrying out risk assessments, contributing to safeguarding enquiries, negotiating on behalf of clients, and maintaining professional standards in accordance with HCPC and Royal College guidelines. Expect regular supervision and appropriate workload management to support your professional development. You will also ensure best practice in record-keeping, meeting compliance standards, while actively engaging in supervision and development planning, and promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in your practice.
