Job Description
FORMULATION TECHNICIAN
LOCATION – LIVINGSTON

Hours of work - Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week
Based in Livingston, our client is a successful medical device business that has been contributing to the healthcare industry for over 30 years. During the formulation process, a series of dilutions and adjustments are made to the bulk hyaluronic acid formulation to meet stringent product specifications. Reporting into the Formulation Team Leader the Formulation Technician role is as follows:
To ensure all formulation tasks are carried out in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, with strict adherence to good documentation practice
Monitor critical process parameters, report and appropriately document any observed quality issues within the manufacturing area, in a timely manner
Sterilisation of vessels and associated equipment, via autoclave or Clean in Place/Steam in Place.
Support in the planned preventative maintenance of process equipment and interaction between engineers, suppliers and contractors
Work with line manager and peers, to solve problems and improve the working environment, where required
Adhere to all Health & Safety guidance associated with the production areas
Ensure effective housekeeping is maintained. Skills and Experience:
At least 1 years’ experience within a medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
The ability to think logically and multi-task
Technical mindset
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient IT skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Strong time management skills and ability to work under own initiative. Desirable:
NC/HNC or HND in mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering This role will suit two types of candidate, Technical Operators who have worked within a chemistry or formulation based process/environment or Graduates with a BEng or BSC in a chemistry related discipline. It is preferable, but not essential, that you have some exposure to a volume manufacturing environment. A strong work ethic, attention to detail and the ability to follow exacting operating procedures is taken as a given.
