As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for Teaching Assistants to join our close-knit team at Manor House School, part of Acorn Education.

  • £22,300 - £25,029.00 per annum dependent on experience (Salaries reflective of London Fringe)
  • Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm
  • Permanent, Term Time only
  • SEN experience highly desirable
  • After 3 months in post, you will qualify for the 4-day working week - work 4 days but get paid for 5 days! (subject to staffing requirements)

Manor House School is an independent special educational needs provision, the school supports boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 18 years of age who have a range of social emotional and mental health needs. The philosophy of our school is based upon principles which are holistic, inclusive, aspirational, and progressive. The successful candidate will support our teachers working alongside other support staff and therapists, to deliver the curriculum and help nurture a therapeutic environment to meet a range of needs including social, emotional, behavioural, communication and learning difficulties.

This opportunity is based in Horsham, commutable from Southwest of London, Northwest of Brighton and North East of Chichester.

As a Teaching Assistant you will connect directly with the brilliant pupils and young people we care for, helping to make sure they get the very best from their education. Each individual has so much potential, and they will rely on you to guide their learning journeys.

You will help prepare learning materials and run classroom activities, with plenty of hands-on experience and some supervision too. You will take responsibility for their emotional and physical needs, supporting them to develop as individuals and engage with the world.

Supporting pupils with complex Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs is important and rewarding work, and you will benefit from the tremendous support offered by our hugely experienced teams. As you help our pupils and young people achieve real and significant progress, you will enjoy having a direct, positive impact on their developing lives.

Who we are looking for

We would love to hear from candidates who have their GCSE C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths and who have some experience with SEN and working within a School.

You will be adaptable and ready to work in a variety of classroom roles, both indoors and outside according to individual need. Taking a responsive and caring approach, you may be running classroom activities, leading outdoor experiences or supervising pupils as they explore further afield.
