Who We're Looking For:
The Associate Manager, R&D Hardware Engineering in the PLM (Product Life Management) department plays a vital role in optimizing product lifecycle management processes. This position involves managing electrical and mechanical resources, mentoring team members, and coordinating sustaining engineering activities to ensure product improvements and compliance. The Associate Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including NPD, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance, to drive product enhancements and maintain industry standards.
About the Role:
- Manage the lifecycle of existing products, leading a team of engineers to ensure continuous improvements and effective issue resolution.
- Oversee design and engineering changes, and process updates to support sustaining engineering activities while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Lead sustaining engineering projects and drive initiatives aimed at improving product reliability, performance, and compliance in collaboration with R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing teams.
- Analyze product performance data and customer feedback to identify opportunities for corrective actions and improvements/enhancements.
- Serve as the central contact for sustaining engineering across departments, ensuring alignment with Quality and Regulatory Affairs.
- Plan and execute sustaining engineering projects, tracking progress against timelines, budgets, and quality standards while reporting to senior management.
- Develop best practices for sustaining engineering and lead initiatives to streamline workflows, enhance product quality, and manage lifecycle costs.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field with a minimum of 9 years of experience; or a Master's degree with 7 years of experience focusing on hardware product lifecycle management and sustaining engineering, with prior leadership of cross-functional engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, product development, and quality management systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory and quality requirements for medical devices, including FDA and ISO 13485 standards.
- Proven track record in project management, including planning, execution, and reporting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience with PLM software/engineering change management tools preferred.
