Great opportunity for an Undergraduate Construction Project Trainee
Permanent
Near Romford, Essex
Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm
£25k - £35k + company car or car allowance. Eligible for performance related bonus. Company pension. Health insurance. Payment of fees for agreed undergraduate course.
The Role:
Local, professional, polite, disciplined, and friendly individual who is passionate about buildings and the construction industry and is seeking an opportunity to start or develop their career, learn and quickly develop skills to contribute to our successful team. We would expect the candidate to assist with estimating, QS work and project management.
About the company:
50-year-old contractor who are a conservatively run, organically growing organisation. Work within the commercial and industrial sectors of the construction industry with clients such as Diageo, Savills, Thames Water, Workspace, Local Councils & The Crown Estate.
Essential skill set:
·Strong academic background (with good grades in Maths and English).
·Willing to enrol and complete a construction-based degree
·Minimum age 18 with A level or equivalent qualifications.
·Driving licence preferred.
·Ability to listen, learn and complete set tasks to a very high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
·Composed and strong mindset, with an ability to work hard in a busy and intense environment.
·To be able to work independently in a small team, contributing and adding value, researching, and learning on their own. Completing simple tasks to a high standard.
Through training, the successful applicant will quickly develop the ability to carry out the following key tasks and responsibilities:
Estimating construction tenders. Procuring sub-contractor packages. Purchasing or hiring building equipment and materials. Completing construction programmes. Completion of project interim valuation and final accounts. Creating work schedules so projects are completed before deadlines. Overseeing building projects to ensure staff are working safely, productively and to a high standard. Monitoring construction budget to minimise overspending. Providing progress reports to clients via phone, email, or meetings in person. Negotiating with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors
