Job Description
Central is currently recruiting for a Support Worker, to work in the Barnet area. The service is a 17 bed hostel providing support to clients at risk of homelessness, rough sleepers and those who require assistance with independent living skills.
The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working Monday – Friday, 9AM – 5:30PM. Temporary cover is required for approximately 1 - 2 months. The pay rate for this role is £13.15 per hour, with £1.59 holiday pay, totalling £14.74 per hour.
In this position, you will be required to:
* Hold a caseload of key clients and conduct regular key working sessions
* Establish honest, open, working relationships with individuals living with long-term, complex issues
* Utilise an asset based approach to working with individuals.
* Support, encourage and motivate people to work towards short term goals which support their long term aspirations
* Carry out assessments, deliver appropriate interventions and make appropriate referrals to ensure service users have all the support they need in place
* Liaise with and build positive, sustainable relationships with landlords and other key agencies in order to provide a holistic support network around the individual
* Carry out all the project admin, including keeping accurate case records, recording and monitoring outcomes and keeping accurate financial records
* Assist in the running of the centre and the programme of work, particularly ensuring the safety & security of the people who attend the centre, volunteers and staff
* Ensure health & safety and hygiene standards are adhered to

* An understanding of person centred working, with an assets based approach to the individual
* A working knowledge of homelessness legislation, welfare benefits, support service and safeguarding.
* Experience of working under pressure and dealing with challenging and sometimes aggressive behaviour
* Experience of lone working in the community
* Competent computing skills, including word-processing and ability to use windows applications, including spreadsheets and databases
Further requirements:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
* Current valid right to work in the UK
* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
