Person Specification:
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent.
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
- Knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of SLCN needs.
- Experience of working in a similar role within a school or college setting (desirable).
- Experience of delivering assessments and designing and leading group and individual intervention programmes.
- Ability to independently plan and manage a caseload of students (under the supervision of the SaLT Manager).
- Ability to independently prioritise and organise your workload, manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Ability to demonstrate good analytical and reflection skills; to evaluate assessments and to set, measure and update SMART targets and EHCP outcomes.
- Knowledge of assessment tools relevant to the older student cohort.
- Knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions (relevant to the client group) at all levels of support: universal, targeted and specialist.
- Awareness of the standards of record keeping and confidentiality and the ability to keep accurate, up-to-date records.
- Good presentation skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to write comprehensive reports and referrals.
- Strong interpersonal skills – including observation, listening and empathy skills.
- Demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Awareness of the roles of other professionals (relevant to the client group)
- Ability to devise and deliver training presentations and to model SLCN strategies to groups of staff.
- Good time-keeping and IT skills
