Female Specialist Support Worker
Job Location
Stoke Newington, United Kingdom
Job Description
Waking nights – week one 4 nights, week two 3 nights
Stoke Newington, London, N16 7UH
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young women facing complex challenges? Join us as a Female Specialist Support Worker, where you'll provide crucial support to our young female residents, aged 18-25, including care leavers and ex-offenders, helping them move towards independent living.
A Typical Night in the Role
Your shift will start with a comprehensive handover from the day team, preparing you for the night ahead. You’ll then conduct patrols to ensure the building is safe, and that residents are following tenancy agreements—addressing issues like smoking or noise as needed.
Later, you might help some young residents prepare healthy snacks for a group movie night, creating a sense of community and fun. Throughout the night, you'll be available to provide emotional support, de-escalate tense situations, and respond to any emergencies.
About the Role
Working in our all-female supported housing scheme, you’ll focus on:
* Safeguarding and promoting wellbeing: Creating a safe, supportive environment for young women.
* Building trust and resilience: Using trauma-informed care to empower residents in achieving their goals.
* Housing-related casework: Helping residents develop life skills, maintain tenancies, and prepare for independent living.
* Managing challenging behaviour: Confidently de-escalating conflicts and ensuring the safety of all.
You’ll work waking night shifts on a rota, with no more than three/four shifts per week over a two-week period.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
* Experience supporting vulnerable young women, especially those with high support needs.
* Knowledge of trauma-informed care and safeguarding principles.
* Strong conflict management skills and the ability to maintain professional boundaries.
* Empathy and resilience, with a commitment to helping residents flourish.
* Proficiency in IT and report writing, with the ability to manage a complex caseload.
What We Offer
* 25 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays
* Two additional volunteering days per year
* Flexible benefits scheme, including family-friendly options and discounts
* 4x salary life assurance
* Up to 10% pension contribution
* Comprehensive training and development opportunities
This role requires an enhanced DBS check
