Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager and the PCL, the Underwriter’s primary role is to provide assistance to the retail agents, Marketing Reps, associates and other UW’s as needed and necessary in timely, efficient, friendly and accurate manner to include timely turn around time on all new business all the while being responsible for growing revenues.


How You Will Contribute

  • Determines acceptability of risk from the retail agents, evaluates and replies within required turn around time set by management and approves selected risk as per carrier guidelines.
  • Works assigned renewal book of business in a timely manner in order to increase retention and revenues.
  • Contacts companies for specific risk exceptions/approvals, reviews submission for complete UW information.
  • Communicates with retail agents when necessary regarding particular submissions and/or risks.
  • Builds and maintains working relationship with the retail agents in order to motivate the agent to provide continued submissions to increase production levels and revenues.
  • Meet monthly production goals as agreed upon with Management.
  • Provide to the retail agent on-line endorsement quotes as requested in a timely manner.
  • Assist the retail agents with procedures, guidelines and our on-line quoting system.
  • Follow through on all Diary items within a 30-day timeframe.
  • Present PL product WEBINARS on a weekly basis.


Skills & Experience to Be Successful

Required

  • Preferred two years college with associate degree or 2 years insurance experience with P&C license.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform expectations in a highly stressful environment.
  • Above average written and communication skills.
  • Ability to proofread and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to resolve insurance issues and provide solutions for the retail agent.
  • Must be available to work overtime as required by the work flow demand.
  • Professional and friendly attitude and mannerism.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to complete all UW training to the satisfaction of management.


Preferred


  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a business or financial related discipline
