Job Description

Key Responsibilities 1. HR Strategy and Organisational Alignment Assess organisational goals and implement HR strategies to attract, retain, and develop the best talent. Collaborate with senior management to align HR practices with business objectives and drive growth. Develop and implement succession planning strategies, identifying and grooming future leaders within the organisation. 2. Training and Development Develop training programmes and certification pathways to support employees' career development and growth. Manage skills development initiatives, including the preparation and submission of the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) to ensure compliance. Oversee mandatory and legislative training, aligning all development activities with company goals. Manage internal bursary schemes, learnerships, and grant applications to support skills development and B-BBEE initiatives. 3. Performance Management Implement a performance management system that encourages continuous feedback and performance improvement. Support managers in setting clear performance goals, conducting appraisals, and providing constructive feedback. Develop action plans based on performance reviews to enhance productivity and employee engagement across the team. 4. Compensation and Benefits Oversee the compensation structure, including wage reviews and adjustments in line with MEIBC rates and grades. Manage employee benefits schemes, including Pension and Provident Fund contributions, to remain competitive in retaining top talent. Track and manage sick leave and absences, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and complete. 5. Employment Equity (EE) and Skills Development (SD) Complete all Employment Equity (EE) submissions and maintain the Employment Equity Plan for compliance. Facilitate skills development, including updates and submissions of the WSP and ATR. Manage grant applications for skills funding and assist with BBBEE compliance, including overseeing the YES youth programme. 6. Industrial Relations (IR) Oversee all disciplinary actions, grievances, and complaints, ensuring compliance with company policies and South African labour laws. Document and maintain records of all disciplinary procedures, grievance meetings, and employee relations activities. Provide guidance and support to management on IR issues, ensuring consistent and fair application of policies and procedures. 7. Employee Engagement and Retention Foster a positive and supportive work environment that enhances employee engagement and job satisfaction. Organise initiatives to promote a culture of appreciation, collaboration, and open communication across the organisation. Implement strategies and programmes to boost morale, motivation, and employee retention. 8. Compliance and Reporting Ensure compliance with Metal and Engineering Industries Bargaining Council (MEIBC) standards. Submit and maintain all required EE, SD, and B-BBEE records for regulatory compliance. Prepare and present HR metrics and reports, including workforce planning, employee turnover, and engagement levels, for review by senior management. 9. Payroll Management Oversee the full payroll administration for weekly wage earners and salaried employees using the SAGE VIP Professional Cloud System. Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring strict adherence to tax laws, benefits, and company policies. Administer third-party submissions and payments, including Union contributions, Pension, and Provident Fund payments. Prepare and present payroll summary reports for management sign-off, ensuring accuracy and transparency. Address payroll queries promptly, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate payroll records. Bachelors Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of HR management experience, preferably in manufacturing or engineering sectors. Proficiency in SAGE VIP Professional Cloud System for payroll administration. Strong knowledge of South African labour laws and MEIBC regulations. Demonstrated experience in strategic HR management, organisational alignment, and talent development. Proficiency in Employment Equity, Skills Development, and B-BBEE compliance. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to handle multiple priorities, work under pressure, and solve problems effectively.
