The Role
We’re looking for a dedicated, creative, and organised Learning Support Practitioner to support prisoners in their educational journey. In this role, you’ll work closely with tutors and instructors, delivering tailored educational support to learners, particularly those with neurodiverse needs and literacy challenges. Through individualised support plans, reading interventions, and the promotion of positive, restorative practices, you’ll be essential to fostering motivation, engagement, and inclusivity within our programmes.
Purpose of the Role: As a Learning Support Practitioner, you’ll help learners overcome literacy barriers, build reading skills, and work towards personal and employment goals. You’ll monitor progress, make adjustments, and ensure that each learner has the tools they need to succeed in an inclusive learning environment. This role allows you to champion diversity and promote a culture of positive change within the prison community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Create and adapt individualised support plans for learners with literacy and neurodiverse needs.
* Provide structured reading and literacy interventions to help learners improve their skills.
* Encourage accountability and positive attitudes through restorative approaches.
* Work closely with tutors and trainers to integrate tailored support across educational programmes.
* Track and record learner development to ensure progress toward literacy and employability goals.
* Champion an inclusive, diverse learning environment that supports all learners.
Requirements:
* GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths & English at Grade C. NV2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or willingness to work towards this).
* Background in learning support and development, with strong knowledge of neurodiverse conditions and strategies to support learners.
* Excellent communication, organisational abilities, and a commitment to creating an inclusive and motivating learning environment.
