Sen Teaching Assistant
Job Location
London, United Kingdom
Job Description
About the role: Join our happy and welcoming primary school in Haringey, where children’s success is at the heart of everything we do. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to flourish, and we are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide vital support to students with ASD and challenging behaviours. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development. This role requires someone who is firm but fair, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with children who may display challenging behaviour. You will play a key role in ensuring these students feel understood, supported, and valued, helping them engage with the curriculum and reach their potential.
While qualifications in SEN are beneficial, we also welcome applicants with relevant experience in working with children with ASD. If you have a calm, empathetic approach and a genuine desire to make a difference in children’s lives, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
About the school: Our school is a vibrant, diverse community where many languages are spoken, reflecting the multicultural richness of the area. We believe in developing core skills in reading, writing, and maths while embracing a wide curriculum that includes specialist teaching in music, art, sport, and Mandarin. The school fosters a supportive, inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to thrive.
Application Requirements:
• Experience working with children with ASD or other special educational needs.
• Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the school team.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
• An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with ASD and challenging behaviours.
• Assist in planning and implementing individualised learning strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to ensure tailored support.
• Promote positive behaviour and social interactions.
• Help create a safe, nurturing learning environment.
Perks and Benefits:
• A warm and welcoming school community.
• Opportunities for professional development and training.
• Supportive colleagues and leadership team.
• Engaging and enriching curriculum.
• Competitive pay rates.
