Joining Tarmac’s UK & Ireland Land & Natural Resources team, you’ll embark on a two-year development program that blends hands-on experience with guided mentorship. Reporting to our Head of Technical Services, and collaborating with Quarry Design and Geotechnical Managers, you’ll contribute to meeting key regional and national mineral management goals. This role offers unique exposure to the entire mineral lifecycle—from exploration to restoration—ensuring sustainable practices for both our business and the communities we serve.
Main ResponsibilitiesWith the support and guidance of experienced professionals, your key responsibilities will include:
Participate in the design of quarries and earthmoving schemes, reviewing expert consultant reports and supporting site-specific strategies.
Conduct safe and effective fieldwork, building skills in safety practices and contractor management.
Foster relationships with operational teams, local communities, and other stakeholders to ensure projects meet business and community objectives.
Work alongside teams to deliver impactful projects and support business enhancement initiatives.
Apply geological principles in real-world business settings, ensuring compliance with geological and geotechnical standards.
Assist in the preparation of planning applications, consents, and permits for sustainable mineral working.
Develop reports, geological plans, and deliver presentations that support decision-making.
Support the development and management of Tarmac’s GIS and data platforms, contributing to innovative resource management.
The Ideal CandidateWe’re seeking graduates who are enthusiastic and driven to make a meaningful impact. Key attributes include:
A degree in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Hydrogeology, or related field (Postgraduate qualification desirable).
Relevant work experience in a similar field is beneficial.
Skills and Traits:
Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
Highly organised and capable of managing multiple priorities.
Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
Willingness to travel to sites across the UK (full UK driving license required).
