Job Description
Do you have a ONC or above in Mechanical Engineering? Do you have experience working within R&D? If so, our client based in Braintree are looking for a Product Development Engineer to work in a team to develop new and existing products from concept through to manufacture. The role is for a fixed term contract of 37 weeks to cover paternity leave.
Duties:
Manage and deliver projects within budget and on time, defining project objectives, project scope, roles & responsibilities.
Define and manage resource requirements
Outline budget based on requirements, tracking costs ensuring projects are delivered within budget and reporting on project status.
Identify and mitigate potential risks.
Manage relationships and communications between the internal and external workforce with key stakeholders.
Oversight of Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety functions, ensuring all products meet safety regulations.
Leading one junior member of staff
Contract Review / Emax ERP system updating
Carry out complaint investigations and corrective actions
NPI Project lead including Legacy projects
Research other products in the market to generate ideas for improvement.
Developing and building prototypes to test their function.
Skills & Experience:
ONC/HNC/HND/Degree level qualification in a related subject is essential
Good GCSE grades in Science, Math and English is a requirement
Extensive SolidWorks experience along with good Microsoft package (e-mail and Excel) experience
Design experience of rubber compression mould tooling would be beneficial.
Hands on experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems would be beneficial.
A knowledge of various materials (metals, plastics, rubbers) is required
Must be ability to read and understand technical drawings or schematics.

Hours of work 7.45 - 4.15 Monday to Thursday, finishing at 3.15 on Friday
