Job Description
The post-holder will be responsible for establishing a broad research environment, including AWE, so that NTR and its stakeholders are able to access Science and Technology to enable their mission.
The post-holder will seek to establish and cultivate a S&T pathway which is capable of taking initial ideas and developing them to the point where they can be made available for procurement. They will establish links with organisations, beyond AWE, to broaden the supplier base, increase available resource and create a career pathway into the DNE and specifically areas supporting NTR.
They will be responsible for developing strategies and underpinning capabilities to ensure that the appropriate infrastructure, capabilities and resource are available to support the wider NTR programme.
This role will work as part of a small team of MOD permanent members of staff. All the team are expected to develop sufficient experience and nuclear expertise to engage on a peer-professional basis with Atomic Weapons Establishment, UK Operators (RN and Army), colleagues similarly engaged across-government (though not as technically focused), US Federal representatives and laboratories and with other international partners.
Hybrid and flexible working can be considered for this post but will need regular workplace attendance due to security constraints. Candidates are encouraged to discuss options with the recruiting line manager before submitting an application.
