SEN-TA – Autism Spectrum Disorder Specialist
Hours of Work: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Term Time
Pay: £85-£100 per day

You will be working within a small, specialised ASD Resource Provision (ARP) class, tailored to support non-verbal students on the autism spectrum. About the role:
As an ASD Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play an integral role in supporting non-verbal students through a blend of personal care, behavior support, and individualised learning strategies. Experience working with non-verbal children is essential, as is a genuine understanding of autism and the unique challenges it presents. Formal qualifications are beneficial, though the school values hands-on experience highly. Your role will be hands-on and varied. You’ll collaborate closely with SEN teachers, speech therapists, and occupational therapists to deliver a tailored approach that supports each child’s progress. You’ll have the chance to join trial days, where you’ll experience the vibrant school culture firsthand and see the remarkable work this ARP team does each day.
Application Requirements:
• Experience with non-verbal children with ASD.
• A relevant qualification (desired but not essential).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
• Compassionate, resilient, and enthusiastic about SEN education.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-on-one and small-group support to non-verbal children with ASD in the ARP class.
• Employ effective communication techniques and use assistive technology where applicable.
• Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs in a positive and patient manner.
• Work closely with the teaching team to develop and implement individualized learning plans.
• Adapt activities to meet sensory, physical, and emotional needs.
