Due to the partnership between Hays and Birmingham City Council, we are looking to recruit an officer to join the Housing Management team as a Housing Needs Officer. Your new role
We are looking for 6 housing professionals to join Birmingham City Council as part of their income recovery team. You will be responsible for delivering services, ensuring the General Fund income collection is maximised for management and maintenance purposes in accordance with appropriate legislation, policy, procedures and service/trade standards.
You will carry out income management activities as part of a work plan for services in assigned areas of responsibility, carry out tasks and duties as directed by the Temporary Accommodation Senior Income Officer and/or Temporary Accommodation Income Manager in order to maintain service delivery for the Temporary Accommodation Service.
You will need to continually carry out tasks and activities to an excellent standard to meet service demand from customers across all service channels (telephone, visits, online/digital) in line with policies and procedures, legal protocols, statutory governance, performance management frameworks and published service standards to maximise income whilst maintaining the highest principles of integrity in service delivery.
You will be expected to develop competency in service delivery for all functional teams/areas within the Temporary Accommodation Income Team as may be required at times to work for or on one, more or all of the functions at the same time, in order to meet business needs.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need to have experience in income recovery or any role within debt collection.You will also need experience as a housing officer, welfare/benefit officer or any role within this sector. Knowledge regarding Universal Credit/Benefits and customer service skills are required.
This role requires a DBS – if you do not have one on the update service, then Hays will put this into process for you free of charge.
What you'll get in return
This role is a full-time, temporary role and the rate of pay is £12 (£13.35 premium) for the first 13 weeks – this will then increase to £13.20 (£14.85 premium) per hour. As well as this, you will receive a dedicated consultant who will help with your job search.
