Head of Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA)

MCS Group is seeking a dynamic and experienced Quality professional to join our client's quality team as the Head of Supplier Quality Assurance in County Antrim. You will join a leading manufacturing company and will have a focus on regulating, controlling, and improving supplier quality performance, driving continuous improvement in production through inspection of incoming materials, and addressing quality challenges. Key Responsibilities: Validate and monitor new and critical suppliers; resolve supplier-related issues during inspection/assembly. Define and track SQA KPIs, implementing corrective actions for non-performance. Lead root cause analyses, corrective/preventative actions, and quality audits. Implement processes to recharge costs for supplier-related production impacts. Support production by reducing non-conforming materials and driving supplier-based quality improvements. Maintain and update quality management systems in line with ISO 9001. Communicate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers on quality matters. Lead and supervise quality personnel to resolve material quality concerns. Ensure timely reporting against agreed quality metrics. Essential Requirements: A trade qualification in engineering or a related field, obtained through a four-year apprenticeship program/ or a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in engineering or a related field, or equivalent qualification. Experience within the Automotive or aeronautical industry Experience: Minimum of 5 years of management experience within a manufacturing environment within a quality role. Proven ability to define, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality teams. Experience rejecting non-conforming materials and resolving supplier material complaints. Skilled in root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventative actions. Proficient in conducting internal and external quality audits. Specialist Knowledge/Skills: Strong analytical skills to assess data, trends, and quality metrics. Familiarity with industry-specific quality procedures and continuous improvement principles. Proficient in inspecting/testing materials and updating quality documentation. Competent in Microsoft Office applications for data management and reporting. Travel for business purposes, to meet with local and overseas suppliers. Knowledge of continuous improvement methods in manufacturing.
