Job Purpose
To provide high-quality care and support to residents in a residential care setting, promoting their dignity, independence, and well-being. The Care Assistant will work as part of a team to deliver person-centred care in line with individual care plans and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities- Assist residents with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support residents with mobility and physical activities, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Help with meal preparation and assist residents during mealtimes, ensuring nutritional needs are met.
- Monitor and report changes in residents health and well-being to senior staff.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and contribute to care plan reviews.
- Encourage and support residents to participate in social and recreational activities.
- Promote a safe and clean environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Build positive relationships with residents, their families, and team members.
- Attend training and development sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new staff and volunteers as needed.
- Previous experience in a care role, preferably within a residential setting.
- Understanding of person-centred care principles.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations within a care environment.
- Basic first aid and medication administration training (or willingness to undertake training).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy and compassion towards residents and their families.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Patient and understanding nature.
