About The Job:

SRUC are looking for an enthusiastic, creative team player to work within our Oatridge Campus library.

Your core responsibility will be to assist the Campus Librarian in the operation of all aspects of the campus library and information centre(s).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff the campus library counter including
    o Issuing and discharging loans, reservations etc
    o Using SRUC's Library Management System
    o Basic IT support for all library users
  • Work flexibly to maximise library open hours
  • Provide guidance and help for library users accessing print and electronic resources, and participate in promoting library services and collections
  • Process Inter-Campus Loan requests, and maintain accurate records and statistics
  • Gather and record statistics and other library management information for monitoring purposes
  • Acquisition and processing of stock and library materials using the Library Management System and SRUC finance system
  • Assist with cataloguing and classification of library stock (e.g. using AACR2, MARC21 and DDC)
  • Ensure that any available guidance and help is given to library users by the provision of printed and electronic information, training and assistance and other appropriate means
  • Facilitate access to electronic resources
  • Represent the Campus Librarian as and when required
  • Undertake other duties commensurate to the grade and focus of the post

This is a fixed-term appointment, during Term-Time (40 weeks per year), for 24 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications:


The ideal candidate should have a good general standard of education e.g. Highers or equivalent (SCQF Level 7).
