Do you want to drive our digital podcast expansion in BBC News NI, bringing new products to life in a rapidly changing news media landscape? We are looking to recruit a new role of Senior News Editor (Nolan, Podcasts and Special Events) at BBC News NI. This is a new and exciting opportunity for an ambitious and creative senior editorial leader, with a sharp news sense, a can do attitude and a hunger to be successful in News at the BBC in Northern Ireland. Main Responsibilities Reporting to the Head of News and Current Affairs, BBC Northern Ireland, the Senior News Editor (Nolan, Podcasts and Special Events), is a challenging and exciting new position. You will be the senior editorial leader with responsibility for 'The Nolan Show', BBC Northern Ireland's award winning weekday daily programme on BBC Radio Ulster, and other related content. You will also be the senior editorial lead with responsibility for expanding BBC News NI's audio digital footprint, through new podcasts on BBC Sounds, with News at their very core. And you will also deliver multiplatform coverage across Digital, Radio and Television of major news events and stories in Northern Ireland, the Irish Republic and further afield, as and when required. And at all times drive and maintain the highest creative, legal and editorial standards, ensuring the delivery of original, authoritative and high impact journalism for all our audiences. As part of the wider Senior Editor team in BBC News NI, you will also deliver an efficient and effective deployment of people and resources, while at all times being an open, collaborative, strategic and visionary leader. You will also be a strong advocate for a diverse, inclusive and welcoming Newsroom, as well as ensuring impartiality is at the heart of our output. Are you the right candidate? You will have a strong track record in producing original and high impact journalism on a multi-platform basis, as well as evidence of leading large news teams in a variety of scenarios. You will also have substantial experience in working on major stories and events, and a proven track record of sound news judgement which demonstrates an ability to deal with complex editorial issues in highly pressurised environments. Resilience, strong leadership, communication, negotiation and inter-personal skills are also essential, as is a strategic mindset and understanding of the radio, television and digital and social media news market.
