Functional Skills Tutor
Location: Gloucestershire
Salary: £28,000 – £34,500/ annum (dependent on experience)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent About the Role:
We are working with an independent specialist college to help find a dedicated English Functional Skills Tutor. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching in English to SEND learners. You will exhibit exemplary teaching skills, have outstanding organisational abilities, and be flexible and adaptable to meet the diverse needs of learners with learning disabilities and difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
Use different teaching methods and tools, including technology, to make learning engaging and inclusive.
Create a safe and supportive classroom where students feel respected and valued.
Assess learners fairly and help them understand and take responsibility for their progress.
Keep accurate records of student progress and contribute to quality checks.
Work with colleagues and external organizations to support learners’ needs.
Show how the subject connects to real-world topics like the economy, environment, and society.
Keep improving your teaching skills and share good practices with others.
Follow rules for safeguarding, equality, and health and safety.
Guide learners to resources and opportunities for further study and careers. Qualifications and Experience:
Qualified Teacher with QTS/QTLS (or equivalent).
Minimum Level 3 in Mathematics and English.
Experience teaching learners with special educational needs.
Proven success in delivering Functional Skills curricula.
