£28,487-£31,939 per annum
Staff accommodation is available at a rate of £63.70 per week
Are you looking for a fun and varied job in hospitality management? YHA Ambleside are looking for a Deputy Manager to support the Hostel Manager and become a vital part of our dynamic team. YHA Ambleside is located in the heart of the Lake District National Park and within walking distance of its charming village namesake. Nestled on the picturesque shores of Lake Windermere, this 244-bed hostel also boasts a vibrant Lakeside Restaurant and Bar.
As the Deputy Manager you'll support the Hostel Manager with the day-to-day management of the hostel. You'll create a great place for our teams to work and ensure our guests have a great experience in our hostels.

What will you be doing as a Deputy Manager?
We are a friendly team and will provide the training required for you to undertake the role. However, there is plenty for you to get stuck into from day one, including:
Our Deputy Managers support the Hostel Managers in managing the hostel team, the operational budget and safeguarding all guests.

What will you be doing as a Deputy Manager?
We are a friendly team and will provide the training required for you to undertake the role. However, there is plenty for you to get stuck into from day one, including:
- Delivering an excellent customer experience to all hostel guests.
- Contributing towards the achievement of targets across all aspects of the hostel operation including food and beverage, and responsibility for maximising revenue whilst controlling expenditure.
- Supporting the Hostel Manager by managing a team of employees and occasional volunteers.
- Helping to maintain a safe work environment for our teams.
- Contributing to the team effort in the day-to-day operation of the hostel, undertaking housekeeping, reception, and food and beverage tasks on a daily basis.
Our Deputy Managers support the Hostel Managers in managing the hostel team, the operational budget and safeguarding all guests.
To provide this service we are looking for candidates who have:
- Experience in hospitality or customer service, including the management and delivery of a quality service
- Ability to manage varying pressures, include peaks in workload demands - can prioritise, able to deal with conflicting duties
- Experience of managing a team - experience of leading others, providing guidance to members of your team (desirable)
- Food safety level 2 and APLH level 2 qualifications (desirable)
- Basic IT skills (ideally Microsoft Office) - able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel
- Knowledge and understanding of the core purpose of YHA - what YHA does and how we do it
