Job Description
PhD Student (gn*) Pharmacy or (Bio)-Chemistry
Fixed-term of 3 years | Part-time with 65 % | Salary grade E 13 TV-L | Project on investigating cell-type specific multiscale imaging of leukocytes, predominantly using radiotracers | European Institute for Molecular Imaging (EIMI) | Job ID: 10092
We are UKM. We have a clear social mission and, with our focus on healthcare, research, and teaching, we bear a unique responsibility.
To meet our high standards every day, we are looking forward to your scientific expertise in the group of Dr. Paul Konken which is embedded in the European Institute of Molecular Imaging. Our research focuses on mechanisms of the immune system, its regulation and therapeutic modulation in clinically relevant inflammatory diseases and preclinical models. The PhD project represents an interdisciplinary collaboration with the Institute for Biochemistry (Prof. Dr. Henning Mootz) as part of the national consortium CRC1450 – “Multiscale Imaging of Organ-specific Inflammation” – ideally with you on board!
Your Tasks- Validation of new platforms for cell labelling based on proteins
- PET imaging optimization in tumor xenograft models using poly-Tag epitopes and radiolabeled nanobodies
- Design and implementation of chemical methods to enhance signal-to-background ratios and improve the specific radioactivity of radiometal-labeled proteins
- Master’s degree or diploma in Pharmacy or (Bio-)Chemistry
- Interest in (radio-)chemistry and organic synthesis
- Interest in immunology and molecular imaging in vivo and in going beyond the boundaries of your own field
- Competence to work independently in a laboratory, relevant experience in handling open radioactivity would be advantageous, but is not mandatory
- We encourage applicants with an experimental-analytical interest, as the job holder (gn*) will contribute to both the development of new methods and their application to investigate (new) tracers and targets.
- Communication skills in English and ideally in German
- Competence to work in an interdisciplinary team
- A broad education and training in a highly interactive consortium (CRC1450)
- The Integrated Research Training Group offers early-career researchers (gn*) comprehensive scientific training in the field of “multiscale imaging” and individual support for their doctoral thesis projects.
For inquiries, please contact: Dr. rer. nat. Christian Paul Konken, T 0251 83-47851.
Apply now via our career portaluntil 08.01.2025.
Your application should include:
- Cover letter describing your research interest and why your skills are suitable for the position (maximum 1 page)
- CV including a list of relevant publications
- Copy of the official academic transcript of your degree or a letter stating when your degree will be obtained
- Names, e-mail addresses, and telephone numbers for academic references/recommendation letters
