Associate Principle Analytical Scientist (R&D)
Location: Cardiff, UK
Contract: Permanent

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead Analytical Projects: Take the helm as the Analytical Lead on customer projects, ensuring top-notch quality, integrity, and scientific excellence while building strong customer relationships.
* Innovate and Integrate: Develop and integrate new capabilities using your foundational knowledge and the latest industry and academic advancements to enhance the business’ scientific offerings.
* Method Development: Create and validate innovative analytical methods for small molecule intermediates, APIs, and drug products (such as LC/GC-MS), delivering solutions that exceed customer expectations.
* Problem Solving: Collaborate with other teams to tackle analytical challenges and troubleshoot instruments, driving innovation and efficiency.
* Digital Tools: Leverage digital tools to provide rapid and efficient process understanding for clients.
* Leadership and Mentorship: Lead initiatives to advance the analytical team’s expertise in advanced methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. Mentor and coach junior and mid-level scientists.
* Safety Standards: Champion strong safety standards in the laboratory, ensuring compliance and acting as a role model.
Knowledge and Skills:
* Educational Background: MSc minimum in Chemistry (or related subject) required; PhD is preferred.
* Analytical Expertise: Extensive work experience (ideally 8-10 years) in analytical science with proven expertise in the development of pharmaceutical products or related chemical industries.
* Technical Proficiency: Skilled in developing robust methods using NMR, HPLC, GC, MS, and other techniques for API and DP analysis. Experience with chromatographic data systems from Agilent, Waters, Thermo, Shimadzu, etc.
* Scientific Communication: Ability to write clear, concise reports from complex data and communicate effectively in technical language with scientific peers and customers.
* Additional Skills: Knowledge of synthetic chemistry, physical organic chemistry, and/or catalysis is preferred. Strong data management and visualization skills are essential.
* Standards and Safety: Good understanding of applicable standards and HSSE principles.
