Job Description

Charterhouse seeks to appoint, for September 2025, an inspirational and passionate Teacher of Economics.

This post is a superb opportunity for a newly qualified teacher, a recent graduate or someone considering a career in education at one of the country’s finest schools. The successful candidate will show the potential to be an outstanding classroom practitioner and have the ability to communicate and instil a lifelong love of their subject in the next generation. Candidates will wish to play a full and active role in all aspects of school life.

Economics is one of the most popular sixth-form options at Charterhouse, with more than 190 students currently in the department. Located in the Beveridge Centre, at the very heart of the school, we have six specialist members of staff working across five dedicated classrooms, recently joined by the superb, collaborative facilities of the Charterhouse Business Hub, a centre for entrepreneurship and research opened in 2023. A number of staff members within the department also teach business and entrepreneurship, and experience in one of these subject areas would be an advantage.

Charterhouse offers a generous remuneration package and other benefits, including a contributory pension scheme, private medical insurance, a death-in-service benefit, and a School Sports Club membership.

Charterhouse is a beautiful school in a 250-acre campus – a wonderful setting for the whole community to live and work together and a splendid backdrop for teaching and learning.

Founded in 1611, Charterhouse is one of the world’s leading coeducational independent schools, welcoming boarders and day pupils at 13+ entry and 16+ entry.

Applications should be made in accordance with the School's application and safer recruitment procedures. Visit the School's website and select the relevant vacancy. This will take you to our online recruitment system, where you can register and complete an application form and upload your latest CV.
