The service you will work in….
We are a rehabilitation service located in Kingston Upon Thames. We are dedicated to supporting service users with mental health and dual diagnosis. We support service users to access the community for various events such as volunteering, college, personal appointment such as GP, hospital appointments and reviews. We also support them with their everyday activities such as budgeting, their wellbeing and to live independently.
A day in this role looks like….
As a Support Worker at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Mental Health & Complex Needs Service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.
A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:
- To be responsible for the support and well-being of all service users, using person-centred planning and a key-work system designed to enable them to attain and sustain a tenancy, enjoy a good quality of life and avoid hospitalisation or relapse.
- To assess referrals, formulate and review support plans, risk management plans and move-on plans with all service users.
- To work in partnership with outside agencies involved in the care and support of service users.
- To ensure that service users are able to attend and participate in a range of socially inclusive activities and skills development opportunities.
- To advise on and broker access to health services, education, training and employment opportunities.
- To work flexibly as part of the team to ensure service coverage and that contractual obligations are met.
- To be responsible for developing, supporting and maintaining independent living skills and general wellbeing and maximising independence of a specific group of Service Users within the service.
- To assess and support Service Users with a range of needs, risks and aspirations.
- To empower Service Users to take responsibility for their health needs particularly in relation to preventing relapse and keeping up to date with all necessary medication.

We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of passion, expertise, and dedication to the table. To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Experience of working with people with a range of different support needs, aspirations for their future and associated risks.
- Experience of delivering high quality support services to people with a range of needs and risk.
- Previous experience of using computer based systems to accurately record work and client details.
- Good knowledge of welfare benefits and housing options and legislation related to statutory duty.
- Knowledge of health and safety relevant to working in Service User's homes.
- An ability to undertake client-focused key working, support planning and risk assessments to maximise Service Users' independence.
- Good understanding of the range of issues, diagnoses and treatment relevant to the client group including substance misuse.
- Ability to liaise with external professionals to inform and develop Service Users' support package.
- Willingness to actively engage in undertaking relevant personal development and training.
- Ability to travel throughout the Borough of operation.
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
