Position Title: Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer

Reports To: Head of Infrastructure

Remuneration: £40-65k p.a. dependent on experience

Package: Pension, Health, 24 days holiday, bonus

Our client, a UK leading Asset Management consulting organisation is looking for a Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer to join their Global Infrastructure Team (GIFT) with a passion for working with innovative cloud technologies, containerised hosting environments and public cloud platform engineering. The GIFT team are responsible for providing first-class cloud infrastructure and engineering to clients and colleagues worldwide.

GIFT Engineers:

*Undertake infrastructure builds to specification;

*Are responsible for incident response to remediation for infrastructure incidents; and

*Carry out maintenance activities such as patching and technical upgrades

Required Skills/Technologies:

DevOps experience – building of cloud environments to pre-determined methodologies

Containerization experience – preferably IBM RedHat Openshift but also any experience working with Docker or Kubernetes, or demonstrable understanding of principles.

Building and Configuring IBM RedHat Openshift Clusters and environments within them.

Public cloud platform engineering skills - preferably AWS - infrastructure builds, configuration, estimation/costings

Infrastructure as Code demonstrable experience – preferably Ansible but also Terraform, Cloudformation etc

Source control and CMDB – preferably GitHub and Azure DevOps but also SVN, Jira, Confluence

Linux environment experience – Debian-based, Red-Hat based - Ubuntu

Cybersecurity practises and frameworks – notably demonstrable experience with ISO27001, SOC1/2,

CyberEssentials+ and/or the NCSC 14 Principles of Cyber Security

Desirable knowledge:

Enterprise Asset Management – IBM Maximo – Maximo Application Suite, Maximo Manage – real-world experience of this application set a distinct advantage – please apply

Experience with IBM DB2 preferably and also SQL Server

Experience configuring and engineering SSO: SAML, LDAP

Specific Responsibilities:

To carry out infrastructure builds to specification and internal team processes and IaC scripts

To provide incident response as 3rd line resolver group for infrastructure incidents

Patch and upgrade application and platform components to pre-arranged schedules to keep within vendor support and latest security versions

Desired Skills/Technologies:

Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the AWS Well-Architected framework and its real-world application

Experience working with AWS’ networking tools and full range of services and the best practise architecture of networking design within public cloud platforms (primarily for security best design)

Real-world or demonstrable experience with infrastructure builds for, the configuration of elements with, or the support of for infrastructure-related incidents with IBM Maximo Application Suite 8, IBM Maximo Manage, IBM RedHat Openshift Portal, IBM Maximo 7.6, IBM Websphere would be a distinct advantage, but full and complete training will be offered with any of these technologies for the right candidate looking to learn, including potentially opportunities to become formally accredited

Real-world or demonstrable experience with IBM DB2 preferably and also SQL Server a distinct advantage but full and complete training and mentoring offered for the willing to learn for these platforms • Experience configuring and engineering SSO: SAML, LDAP

This role does not involve any line management responsibilities but applicants that enjoy playing a mentoring role to others or bringing others up to technical grade within the team will be developed, encouraged and rewarded

This is not primarily a client-facing role, but applicants that are comfortable to deal directly with clients and can explain technical issues to client end users may be asked to assist in this regard from time to time

Ability to succeed working in virtual teams with colleagues on the other side of the world

Place of Work:

This role is either:

Home-based (homeworker);

Based at the client’s Leeds Office (Thorpe Park, East Leeds); or

Based at the client’s Buckinghamshire Office (Little Chalfont, Bucks), or

Based at the client’s Carlisle Office (Parkhouse Road, Carlisle)

(By agreement dependant upon the personal circumstances of the applicant)

Some travel to a client office to meet for face-to-face meetings with line management is required from time to time.

Some travel to client premises may be required if specific need is identified.

Prolonged periods of working abroad under sponsored visa may be possible only for applicants for which this may be desirable.

Hours of Work:

This role is permanent and works a standard eight-hour day for five days a week.

Salary:

£40k p.a.to £65k per annum per annum dependent on experience and qualifications plus bonus and benefits
