Job Title: Compliance Manager

Location: Coventry, UK

Core Hours: 08:00-16:35 (Mon–Thu) 08:00-15:10 (Fri).

Vacancy Type: Full-time, Permanent and Hybrid

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum (subject to experience)

JOB DUTIES


  • Develop and Optimise the Business Management System (BMS): Drive the development, implementation, and sustainability of the BMS to meet industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 14001, ISO 27001), certification criteria, and organisational requirements. Create and refine procedures to support evolving business needs.
  • Oversee Security Management: Interpret, implement, and monitor security controls to safeguard government-classified assets held on-site, ensuring robust compliance with security protocols.
  • Enhance Quality Processes: Regulate and continuously improve business processes to uphold quality standards across operations and ensure excellence in final product delivery.
  • Audit Programme Leadership: Manage the internal and external audit programme to ensure corrective actions for nonconformities are effectively implemented, verified, and documented.
  • Engage with External Bodies: Act as the primary liaison for external certification and regulatory bodies, addressing all matters related to registrations and compliance.
  • Promote a Culture of Continuous Improvement: Foster a company-wide commitment to continuous improvement, embedding best practices that enhance operational performance and efficiency.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet KPIs, achieve customer targets, and drive business goals, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Strategic Planning and Implementation: Contribute to the development and execution of capacity planning, strategic vision, and policies to support business growth and operational excellence.
  • Support Business Development Initiatives: Assess new business opportunities, evaluating and communicating their impact on the BMS, and ensuring alignment with organisational capabilities.
  • Develop an Integrated Management System (IMS): Create and execute an IMS strategy with clear milestones, tracking progress to achieve certification and operational objectives.
  • Implement Procedures for Certification Compliance: Ensure that in-house systems and processes are updated, revised, and compliant with certification requirements, including Defence AQAP standards.
  • Monitor and Report Performance Metrics: Develop, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) across the organisation through dashboards and regular updates to the senior management team.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across processes and tasks to proactively identify and address potential challenges.
  • Coordinate Audits and Compliance Checks: Facilitate internal, customer, and certification body audits, ensuring compliance and readiness across all BMS-related activities.
  • Manage Nonconformity Data: Oversee the audit nonconformity database, analysing trends and ensuring timely resolution and effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Deliver Training Programmes: Lead induction and ongoing training for staff, covering quality assurance and security protocols to maintain a well-informed workforce.

EXPERIENCE


  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage, inspire, and lead cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives and foster collaboration.
  • Lean and Manufacturing Expertise: Deep understanding of lean manufacturing techniques, including Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, Visual Management, Gemba, and Continuous Improvement, with a track record of applying these methodologies to drive operational efficiency.
  • Quality Management Expertise: Extensive experience with quality methodologies, tools, and techniques, ensuring processes and outputs meet the highest standards.
  • Regulatory and Standards Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, and Defence AQAPs, with a focus on maintaining and surpassing compliance.
  • Auditing Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in managing auditing programmes, including internal, external, and certification body audits, with a focus on ensuring compliance and driving improvements.
  • Manufacturing Experience: Significant experience in high-volume manufacturing environments, ideally in the Automotive or Defence sectors, with an understanding of industry-specific challenges.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Organisational Excellence: Outstanding organisational skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to follow through on complex tasks to completion.
  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Competence in identifying and resolving problems, planning effectively, and making sound decisions to drive success.
  • Commercial Acumen: Commercially aware, with an understanding of how quality and compliance impact the broader business environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced IT skills, with the ability to create performance reports, plan audits, and control documented procedures to maintain total system compliance.
  • Adaptability and Influence: Skilled in fostering relationships and communicating effectively at all levels, serving as a trusted advisor on quality matters.
  • Results-Driven Mindset: A focused, target-oriented professional with a positive, proactive attitude and a commitment to achieving excellence.
